Just a couple of days ago, we covered a story from journalist Luke Gardener, who claimed that Manchester United were ‘increasingly confident’ they will sign Moussa Dembele in a £60million deal from Lyon this summer.

Well, now that story has been backed up, and added to, by Todofichajes. Thanks to the Express for the translation, who write that United have reached a ‘total agreement’ to sign the prolific 23-year-old this summer.

Dembele, who has scored 22 goals in all competitions for Lyon this term, will cost £61.8m (€70m) – money which Lyon will use to find a replacement for their outbound striker.

Dembele has improved year-on-year. From his time at Fulham, to Celtic, to now in France. The striker is now looking to make another huge leap and Old Trafford would provide him with the perfect platform.

I’m a big Anthony Martial fan, though bring in Dembele and he has major competition for that starting berth. Both are different types of players, who Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can utilise from game-to-game.

I’d still expect other clubs, possibly Chelsea, to try and get themselves in amongst it to sign Dembele, though it does feel as if United are the current frontrunners.

What a move this would be for the Old Trafford club if they could somehow pull it off…
