Man United have ‘reached an agreement’ to sign Feyenoord left-back, Tyrell Malacia.
Just yesterday evening, we covered a claim from Fabrizio Romano, who stated that Manchester United were ‘trying to hijack’ a deal to sign Tyrell Malacia.
It seems this transfer saga is moving pretty quickly, with an update from Voetbal International journalist, Martijn Krabbendam following shortly after.
Krabbendam goes pretty big. He states that United and Feyenoord have ‘reached an agreement’ on Monday night over the potential transfer of Malacia.
No fee is mentioned, but again, the word ‘hijack’ is used, with United trying to beat Lyon to Malacia’s signature.
According to Krabbendam, it’s now up to the player to decide on his future.
Understandably, it’ll be a pretty tough decision for Malacia. Lyon are a top team within their own right, while I imagine the Dutchman has also considered staying at Feyenoord for the 2022/23 season.
When United come calling, though, it’s pretty hard to say no – particularly with a fellow Dutchman at the helm here in Manchester.
As mentioned earlier, this does feel like a transfer that has slowly snuck under the radar and is moving pretty quickly.
If that’s indeed the case, United deserve credit for keeping this one so quiet while all the media attention was on Frenkie de Jong and Antony.
I wouldn’t class left-back as a major position of need, though the likes of Luke Shaw and Alex Telles have massively underwhelmed recently.
This Malacia move also gives more credence to the rumours suggesting Brandon Williams has been told he can leave. United certainly don’t need four left-sided defenders on their books, that’s for sure.
As of yet, there has been no mention of the proposed transfer fee for Malacia, but we’ll hopefully have more to bring you on that front pretty soon.
