Manchester United are ready to place a huge show of faith in Jose Mourinho, by offering him a colossal five-year contract, worth £65million. That’s according to The Sun.
On top of that, the self-proclaimed Special One is ready to sign on the dotted line. Heck, why wouldn’t he?
Both Mourinho and Pep Guardiola are the two best-paid managers in the world, with the pair roughly earning a huge £250,000-a-week.
The report adds that Mourinho’s basic wage packet will stay roughly the same, but they’ll be an increase to the trophy-based incentive part of his deal – which makes a whole lot of sense.
In his debut season as manager, Mourinho gave us two major pieces of silverware, and it felt like Manchester United were once again headed in the right direction.
Look, I may be biased, but Mourinho has to be considered as the greatest manager in the game at this point in his career. Just look at what he’s won and who he’s won trophies with. Why wouldn’t United put their trust in this man? Particularly when you factor in the start we’ve made to our season.
I can only see us heading in one direction under Mourinho’s guidance; and long may that continue.
