Man United ready to make sensational move for German in January: report

Manchester United are ready to make an attempt to sign Mesut Ozil this January, according to The Independent. Apparently, Jose Mourinho wants to approach the German and offer him a pre-contract, to secure his signature on a free transfer at the end of the current season.

The 28-year-old’s contract is running down pretty quickly, and he’s yet to sign a new deal at The Emirates, meaning that sides, like Manchester United, are now circling.

According to the aforementioned report, Mourinho is confident at signing Ozil, having previously worked with the attacking midfielder during their time together at Real Madrid.

At this point in time, Ozil is yet to really give Arsenal any indicator of wanting to stay in North London beyond this season, and to be brutally honest, you can hardly blame him as they’ve been in a real mess recently.

I’d love to see a player of Ozil’s quality at Manchester United. It’d be a real statement of intent if the Red Devils could get this deal done. It could well have a similar effect as when Sir Alex Ferguson secured Robin van Persie’s signature back in 2012; we all know how that season turned out.
