Man United ready to break bank to sign 20-year-old midfielder: report

Manchester United need a massive transfer window if the club is to get back amongst the Premier League elite.

Our midfield certainly needs work and the latest name to be linked with a potential Old Trafford move is West Ham sensation Declan Rice.

According to the Irish Independent, United are that keen on the 20-year-old, they’re ready to ‘break the bank’ to acquire him this summer.

West Ham are fully aware in regards to United’s ‘eagerness’ to acquire Rice, although the ball is in the court of the London club with the midfielder only recently signing a new deal that’ll keep him with The Hammers until 2024.

It’s tough to put a price on just how much Rice would cost, but you’d imagine it’d be way in excess of £50million for West Ham to even entertain the idea.

Rice has shown a real maturity beyond his years over the last few months. He looks a quality prospect who can be deployed as either a midfielder or a centre-half. That versatility will no doubt serve him well at this stage in his career; although I always prefer to see players lock down one position.

If there’s one deal I hope United can push over the line it’d be this one. Rice would improve our midfield massively although I have my worry about whether he’ll be moving anywhere this summer. Perhaps it’s a year too soon for that…
