Man United ready to let Jesse Lingard leave for £10m in January: report

Man United are now going to accept a cut-price deal to let Jesse Lingard leave.

Outgoing transfers at Manchester United have often been a problem. From selling too early, to selling too late, while also selling too cheaply.

Time and time again, the Red Devils have handed that extra contract to players who obviously aren’t good enough. Time and time again it comes back to bite them on the behind.

Well, that situation is seemingly playing out all over again with Jesse Lingard. United stood firm on their £25m asking price to sell the Englishman over the summer. West Ham were prepared to pay around £18million.

Now, that situation has changed according to The Sun. United are now ready to let the 218-appearance star leave in January for just £10million…

Factor in that Lingard has barely seen any action this term, despite wanting to prove himself still good enough to play for United, and it’s another transfer disaster.

I just don’t get why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn’t just let him leave when he had the chance. At the very least, Lingard deserves to be happy after the brilliant work he’s done for our club during his two decades here in Manchester.

Now, United are going to pay for that poor decision by either losing Lingard on the cheap, or losing him for free next summer. Obviously, it goes without saying they’d rather get £10m for him in January…

But knowing that Lingard is unlikely to sign a new deal, clubs can afford to wait and sign him on a free transfer come June 2022.

No doubt West Ham will be keen, as will Newcastle United. Perhaps both are willing enough to make a mid-season move but once again, United’s poor work in the transfer market is being highlighted.
