Man United ready to make £30m bid for Sean Longstaff: report

Manchester United have made two key additions to the first-team squad this summer, but for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, there is still much work to be done.

The Red Devils still look rather light in both defence and midfield. The Baby Faced Assassin is seemingly doing his utmost to fix that.

One name that just won’t go away is Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff. Today, in an article from the Daily Mirror, it is being claimed that a £30million bid is set to be made by United for the 21-year-old.

Apparently, Solskjaer has made Longstaff a ‘priority signing’ for United during this window, as the Reds look to rebuild around young, British talent.

However, Newcastle value the midfielder at around the £50million mark whereas United feel £30million is a fair price for a man who has paid thirteen senior games in his young career so far.

Furthermore, the £30million bid is ‘imminent’ with Edward Woodward staying behind in Manchester to conduct transfer business, rather than heading out on tour.

This is the first tour Woodward has missed since 2013, ironically when he left Australia to conduct some ‘urgent transfer business’, six years on we’re still waiting with bated breath…

Hopefully, this time around Woodward can land his man. For me, Longstaff would be an astute addition, although it would be somewhat of a risk.
