Man United remain keen on signing Victor Osimhen, while they’re ready to make a huge offer for the striker.
Wout Weghorst has come in for some unfair stick from some sections of the Manchester United fanbase recently, though it’s pretty clear he isn’t the long-term answer in that striker position.
Erik ten Hag will likely be disappointed with what Anthony Martial has offered fitness-wise, too, so the glaring need to bring in an elite-level striker remains.
Several names have been linked. Perhaps none more consistently than Victor Osimhen.
He’s back in the headlines again, with Il Mattino (via @UtdReport), offering us the latest update on the Reds’ potential pursuit of the Nigerian.
Apparently, United are ready to make an ‘offer that cannot be refused’ to sign the 24-year-old, with Osimhen having been on United’s transfer wishlist for a while.
The problem for United may come in regard to transfer fee. Napoli will not discuss any offers lower than £132m/€150m. Obviously, that’s a colossal amount of money…
In my own personal opinion, there’s no striker more suited to this Ten Hag system than Osimhen. Look at how incredible he has been for Naples this year, in terms of goals, work ethic and general striker play.
Much like United’s whole transfer window, it’s dependent on ownership. Obviously, United could have a bottomless pit of money by then if Qatar wins the race, though there’s still a chance that the Glazer family remain in charge. At least for a little while.
At the end of the day, there’s only a select few clubs who can even consider this move, due to Napoli’s insane asking price.
