Man United could be thinking about cashing in on Alex Telles, after just one season.
Last summer was a hit and miss one for Manchester United. Edinson Cavani’s arrival was a genius bit of business, though Donny van de Beek has left plenty to be desired.
Alex Telles is viewed as the man in the middle. The Brazilian has been steady. No more. No less. Now, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be ready to cash in on the former FC Porto man already…
According to Record (Tuesday print), translated by Sport Witness, United are ‘ready to sell’ their recent purchase, with a ‘good offer’ needed to seal a deal for the 23-appearance star.
At this time, it’s unclear what constitutes a ‘good offer’, though you’d imagine United will be looking to claw back their £12m investment in the Brazilian full-back.
For what it’s worth, Telles has been decent for United. Sure, he’s hardly pulled up trees but that’s down to Luke Shaw, who hasn’t given his fellow left-back any real opportunity to make that starting job his own due to the Englishman’s impeccable form.
The good news is that United aren’t in a rush. Telles has signed terms until 2024 and unless the right offer comes in, I’d imagine the Red Devils won’t have any problems with keeping the Brazilian around for at least another year if needed.
Personally, I’d hope that Telles stays. He’ll be feeling better heading into his second season as the 28-year-old will be more comfortable in his surroundings. Plus, he deserves the opportunity to play in front of our fans – and if Shaw gets injured or his form dips, there are certainly worse options to have to replace him.
