Man United ready to spend big on Maddison & Maguire: report

Manchester United have made a start to their transfer window, by acquiring Daniel James’ signature. This has to be just the beginning, though. The club have to push on and spend big.

In an article published on Friday by the Daily Mail, the English media outlet were summing up the Red Devils’ plans while offering some insight into transfer targets.

Amongst those, it was claimed that United are ‘ready to spend big’ on Leicester City’s talented English duo of James Maddison and Harry Maguire. Although the article states that the pair will be tough to get due to Leicester being under no pressure to sell, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is trying to make his move.

The first thing it lets us know is that this club is trying to move in a clear direction. Solskjaer wants to bring in young, preferably British talent as he looks to take United back to doing what they do best. None of this signing marquee players, instead, nurturing talent and improving youngsters.

Both would be simply brilliant acquisitions in two major areas of need. United have lacked that commanding centre-back for at least a half-decade, while midfield creativity, Paul Pogba aside, has been an ongoing issue.

Although no fee is put on Maddison and Maguire by the Daily Mail, you’d imagine that it’d probably cost somewhere around the £130-150million mark to sign both, which is obviously an obscene amount of money…
