Man United are set to sue Cristiano Ronaldo for a breach of contract.
This last week has been nothing but Cristiano Ronaldo talk. The Portugal international certainly made waves across the media with his scathing comments about Manchester United Football Club.
There was always going to be repercussions as a result. No chance was United just going to take it lying down and allow the club to be bullied by a player, albeit arguably the greatest of all time.
The last portion of the interview aired last night, with United now having all the information required. The ball is now in their metaphorical court.
Well, according to The Times, the latest information claims that Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘no longer welcome’ at Carrington, with United set to sue their number seven.
At the time, you felt like Ronaldo was preparing for this to happen. In fact, it’s probably what he wanted. It’s a sad end to an outstanding story.
The fans will always hold Ronaldo in high regard, though that legacy has been tarnished significantly. For some, the bridge has been completely burnt.
I’m just glad it looks like we’re approaching the end of this ridiculous saga. Erik ten Hag wanted to move on from Ronaldo over the summer but there were no interested buyers.
Ronaldo has indeed forced his way out this time. But what top club will take a punt on him? I genuinely don’t believe we’ll see him play for an elite side come January.
You also have to think bout the awkward position that this puts his dressing room friends in. The likes of Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot want to protect their mate, but also not disrespect the club. Add to that the fact that it’s nothing but a distraction for his international teammates – and it’s truly just a messy situation.
