Man United continue to be linked with a move to bring in Juventus’ Gleison Bremer.
It’s becoming increasingly clear to us that Manchester United are planning on making a move to sign a new central defender this summer.
Every other transfer rumour is to a centre-half of some description, be it Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Jarrad Branthwaite, or others.
Last week, the Reds added Gleison Bremer to that list, with the man from Juventus continuing to impress at the heart of their defence.
Yesterday, Calciomercato provided another update on Bremer’s future, once again crediting United with an interest.
According to their information, Juventus look like a ‘completely different’ outfit without the man from Brazil (and not for the better). That was highlighted as Bremer served a one-game ban following suspension recently. They do not want to lose the 26-year-old.
As a result, the Old Lady tied Bremer down to a new contract that runs until 2028. However, that isn’t stopping clubs from sniffing around for his signature.
United are among the sides who are keen, as they ‘really like’ the Serie A centre-back. However, he will not come cheaply, with a £60m (70m euro) price-tag the starting point for Juve. That said, the Red Devils will not be deterred, as they look to make their offer ‘concrete’ when the summer transfer window opens.
It goes without saying, a new, reliable centre-back should be a top priority. Lisandro Martinez’s injuries are starting to mount up. Erik ten Hag isn’t a firm believer in Victor Lindelof. Raphael Varane’s contract is winding down and Jonny Evans isn’t really good enough to be a regular first-choice starter at this level.
Gleison Bremer would be a stunning piece of business, albeit a large chunk of the transfer budget would be swallowed up by his signature.
