Man United ‘really like’ Rasmus Hojlund, will cost £50m+

Man United are big fans of Rasmus Hojlund, though he will not come cheaply.

Manchester United Football Club have no option but to sign a new striker this summer. Do the Red Devils go for a big-money, long-term option? Or does Erik ten Hag look to make a stop-gap signing due to limited funds?

Several players, fitting many different profiles, have been linked. Recently, no striker has been mentioned with a potential United move more than Rasmus Hojlund.

The latest update in the saga comes from journalist Alfredo Pedulla. He rounds up the Reds’ current transfer situation, including offering some information on Hojlund.

According to the latest, United ‘really like’ the 20-year-old striker, making an offer of £40m to try and sign the Dane this summer. However, that offer was turned down.

Serie A club Atalanta are after €60m (£50m+) in order to sell Hojlund during this current transfer market. In fact, they ‘do not listen’ to any offers lower than that price tag for their prized asset.

There can be no doubt that the Dane has all the tools required to become a high level striker, though he will need time to develop into that top-quality asset.

The question is, can United afford to patiently wait for Hojlund to reach his peak?

Well, United managed to cope without a striker for pretty much the whole of last season, finishing in the top four and winning a trophy.

Ten Hag isn’t just going to settle for that, though. He wants to turn United into title winners on an annual basis. For that, big money will have to be spent on a world-class forward. I’m not so sure Hojlund is ready for that at this early stage in his career.
