Man United have received a pretty hefty loan offer to let Jesse Lingard go until the end of the season.
Unfortunately for Manchester United and Jesse Lingard, things haven’t gone quite the way everyone had hoped over the last year or so.
Bad form from the Englishman led to a reduction in minutes and an eventual loan move to West Ham United. The Three Lions international would greatly impress for David Moyes’ side, before coming back to the Red Devils and sadly returning to the substitutes bench.
With time now winding down on Lingard’s deal, it looks as if United aren’t going to get a transfer fee for a man who the club received a pretty decent offer for last summer.
However, they could receive a pretty huge loan offer to let the 29-year-old star depart on a short-term deal this month; and it’s coming from Newcastle United.
The claim comes via 90Min.com, who state that Newcastle have offered £10million to take Lingard from now until the end of the season.
Newcastle and United have been locked in talks all January as Eddie Howe’s side try to push for a move to sign the Englishman.
With their newfound money, a £10m fee is a drop in the ocean for a player who could well be the difference as Newcastle look to maintain their Premier League status.
At this point, United just need to let Lingard go. He’s a tremendous player in his own right and he’s at that stage in his career where he just wants to play football.
As things stand, I’d be surprised if we see Lingard pull on the United jersey ever again.
