Man United receive boost in pursuit of Raul Jimenez, Wolves willing to cash in: report

Odion Ighalo is the talk of Manchester town. The Nigerian has hit the ground running at Old Trafford, pushing the Reds on in Europe while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are moving forward domestically, too.

The problem is, Ighalo is only here on a short-term deal. He’s now 30 and signing him beyond his current loan period could be viewed as a long-term mistake.

That said, United still need to acquire a striker this summer, be it Ighalo or someone else. A familiar name was thrown back into the ring over the last 24 hours. It comes from the Transfer Window Podcast, transcribed by the Manchester Evening News, who link Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez with an Old Trafford move…

Apparently, United have received a boost in pursuit of the star 28-year-old, who was last rumoured with a Red Devils switch back in January when Sky Sports News confirmed interest. We covered that story here.

Now, the Transfer Window Podcast state that Wolves, his current club, could cash in – but only if a big cash offer is made for the Mexican hitman.

Wolves signed Jimenez for around £34million, but he’s been banging goals in for fun while leading the line superbly. No doubt Nuno Espirito Santo would want a handsome profit on that fee, particularly as Wolves’ cash-rich owners don’t really have any real need to sell.

There’s no doubt that Jimenez would be a stunning signing for United, though. His hold-up play is probably better than Ighalo’s, as is his finishing. He’s also a couple of years Ighalo’s junior, too, meaning he’d be able to give us more quality years of service…
