Man United have once again turned their attention to Milan Skriniar, according to reports.
To us here at Old Trafford Faithful, it seems pretty clear what Manchester United’s main target is going into a huge summer transfer window; a centre-half.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified that as a weakness, hence the constant links to defenders already.
Today, a familiar name has been thrown back into the transfer ring; Milan Skriniar.
That’s due to the great form Skriniar has displayed for Serie A leaders Inter Milan this season, with FCInterNews starting that United are indeed looking for a centre-back,
Furthermore, FCInterNews are confident enough to put a transfer fee on it, stating Skriniar would cost any buyer at least £43m (€50m). There is some bad news, mind, with Inter reportedly unconcerned about Skriniar’s potential departure, adding that the defender is happy in Italy.
Would Skriniar be a good addition for the Red Devils?
100% yes. He’d bring a physical presence to a back line that desperately needs a leader, while Skriniar also has the required pace, making him the ideal partner for Harry Maguire.
Look, whichever way United want to go about it, they need to spend big to sign a proven centre-back this summer. Be it Skriniar, Raphael Varane, Sergio Ramos, whoever. Big bucks has to be spent and until then, I struggle to see how this Reds team can challenge for major honours.
Skriniar would be close to the top of my personal list due to his age, experience and speed, though prising him away from Inter Milan is far easier said than done.
