Man United relaxed despite superstar’s contract running out at the end of the season: report

Manchester United Football Club are seemingly calm, despite the fact that David de Gea’s contract talks have been at a two-month impasse.

That’s according to the usually reliable ESPN, who say that no progress has been made since August regarding a new deal for the Spaniard; who’s current United contract expires at the end of this season.

The Red Devils do have an option to extend that current contract by a further year as and when they see fit, and make no mistake about it, that will be activated in the not too distant future.

I just don’t get it. United have an embarrassment of riches. They were prepared to break the bank in terms of transfer fee for Alexis Sanchez, but apparently, they’re being stingy with our most consistent performer over the last half-decade.

De Gea is now almost 28, he’s approaching his prime. Why not give him what he wants and tie him down for his best years? Nobody at this club deserves it more than he does. If United don’t buck their ideas up, I wouldn’t blame him if he wanted to walk for free in 2020.

It seems as though United are hoping that Real Madrid’s move for Thibaut Courtois has ended their need for a goalkeeper, but they’ll be other top European clubs weighing up a move for big Dave, make no mistake about that…
