Man United remain confident they can lure James Maddison to club in £80m deal: report

Amid all the Christmas madness, it seems a rather large transfer rumour slipped by us. Well, we’ve trawled the web long and hard to dig it up and here we go…

On Christmas Day, the Daily Star ran an interesting exclusive in regards to a potential Manchester United move for James Maddison.

The Star state that United are to ‘press ahead’ with the potential summer signing of the 23-year-old in a summer signing worth up to £80million.

Furthermore, United are confident that the offer of a bumper contract will swing the deal in their favour – making Maddison amongst the highest-paid players in the Premier League.

Understandably, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains a huge fan of Maddison, with the player fitting the mould for the Baby Faced Assassin’s rebuild at Old Trafford.

As we saw with Harry Maguire last summer though, Leicester City are no pushovers and they’ll demand an arm and a leg to let Maddison leave the King Power.

There’s no doubt that Maddison would be a huge addition to this squad. His creativity could be key when it comes to unlocking teams who sit back with eleven men behind the ball. If the Red Devils have any chance at making this move happen then they should go hard to get the deal done as soon as possible.
