Man United are still intent on hiring their next interim manager before Sunday’s game vs Chelsea.
The Ole Gunnar Solskjaer mural is gone, though there’s no new manager in place right now.
Manchester United are searching far and wide, presumably to sign an interim manager until the end of the current campaign. The long-term plans remains Mauricio Pochettino.
With time running out ahead of Chelsea away this Sunday, it’s being reported by our friends at Stretty News, that United remain hopeful of having a new interim manager in place for that key upcoming fixture.
It’s believed that club decision-makers remain hard at work at appointing someone, with Michael Carrick’s name also said to be on that list.
Other candidates include Rudi Garcia, Lucien Favre and Ralf Rangnick, with United’s directors doing their utmost to bring someone in as soon as possible.
It’s believed that whoever is named interim will have to work with the current coaches that are already at the club, including the likes of Kieran McKenna, Mike Phelan and probably Carrick, assuming he’s not named the permanent interim.
With a little over 72 hours until our trip to Chelsea, and no concrete information being out there in regards to a new boss coming in, United will have to act quickly.
You’d have to assume that the new manager would want to oversee at least one training session to get a look at the squad before leading them into battle.
My personal choice would be Rangnick. He strikes me as someone who could come in, steady the ship and potentially stick around in some sort of directorial role next summer. Though it remains to be seen whether the Glazer family would give up that sort of power to someone else.
