Man United are still keen on signing Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister.
Manchester United absolutely need to bring in at least one midfielder this summer, with Erik ten Hag continuing to overhaul this playing squad into one that fits his style of play.
Several names have been linked already, including Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister. The World Cup winner scored a sickening 99th-minute penalty against United last night, with the player performing well over the course of the game.
On the same day, Mac Allister was heavily linked with a move to sign for rivals Liverpool. Now, journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest on that front.
Apparently, Mac Allister is ‘keen’ on a move to Liverpool, though there’s still no full agreement in place. Negotiations are set to continue. Here’s where United come in…
The Reds ‘remain interested’ in signing the 24-year-old midfielder, though it depends on the club’s sale. This would obviously be an expensive transfer, with the Old Trafford club seemingly having limited funds available this coming summer.
Check out @FabrizioRomano‘s tweet on the information here:
At this point, United absolutely need to prioritise an elite striker first and foremost. Ten Hag needs that guy who’ll guarantee 25+ goals a season. Someone who’ll make the difference in those close-knit games like last night.
Whether the club can bring in someone of that calibre, while also adding a top-tier midfielder, doesn’t seem likely under the current ownership.
Mac Allister would add an awful lot of quality and depth to this current United midfield, there’s no doubt about that. However, I still feel like he’d prefer a move to Liverpool. I’d much rather see United move for Mac Allister’s teammate, Moises Caicedo…
