Man United remain keen on signing Victor Osimhen, despite the fact his price tag is rising.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a thing of the past, though Manchester United still haven’t replaced the Portugal international on a permanent basis.

Wout Weghorst is doing a decent job as a relatively good stand-in, though there’s no way he’s of the required quality to start for the Red Devils game-in-game-out. No offence intended.

Several names have already been linked with filling that void permanently. Harry Kane among them. As is Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen.

The man from Nigeria strikes me as someone who’d be the perfect fit for this United side, though prising him away from the Serie A leaders will not be easy – or cheap…

Sport Witness relay the latest information on United’s keenness on signing Osimhen, covering Italian reports. It was Il Messaggero with the scoop, relayed by Calciomercato.

Apparently, United are ‘still interested’ in the 24-year-old, despite his value rising to £130m (€150m). Napoli have always been tough negotiators. That was always going to be the case again here.

Any United deal for Osimhen has been postponed until the summer, though it’s written that the Reds ‘want him in the Premier League’.

Osimhen leads the way in the Serie A scoring charts with thirteen goals in fifteen games, as his value continues to ‘skyrocket’ as we approach the summer transfer window. That value will only increase if these outstanding performances continue.

The big concern is about whether United will have that sort of money to spend in the summer, particularly on one player. Obviously, the Glazer family are trying to sell and who knows whether the prospective new owners will come in and splash the cash straight away? It’s by no means a guarantee…

That said, Osimhen would be an unreal piece of business if United could pull it off.
