Man United reported target, Marc Guehi set to be sold this summer

Man United have had eyes on Marc Guehi for quite some time now, with the centre-back apparently set to be sold by Crystal Palace this summer.

Manchester United Football Club will look to sign a new centre-half this summer, as the Red Devils look to continue to overhaul their playing squad under Erik ten Hag.

The Dutch gaffer is seemingly looking to get younger at the position, while bringing in someone reliable amid Lisandro Martinez’s injury issues.

Among the names somewhat heavily linked with an Old Trafford switch is Marc Guehi. The England international is in fine form for Crystal Palace right now. He has been for the last couple of seasons.

Now, the reported United transfer target is expected to be sold by his current club this summer, in a deal worth over £50m. That’s according to The Telegraph. Without going too far behind their paywall, they credit the Old Trafford club with interest in Guehi once again.

Guehi is an excellent footballer. This would be an excellent piece of business. However, money is expected to be somewhat tight this time around. Will the club want to sanction a large portion of that budget on the 23-year-old? That remains to be seen.

It all depends on whether additional funds will be generated through player sales. You’d imagine the likes of Victor Lindelof could be up for grabs, which could free up a large space on the wage budget, too.

I’d personally splash the cash on someone like Guehi as he has real potential to start at the heart of the back four for the next decade. You’re not only investing in the player in the here and now, but also his longevity and potential future ability.

Do you think a Man United move to sign Marc Guehi would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
