Man United are still intent on adding a top-class centre-back this coming summer, with Kalidou Koulibaly atop the list.
Just yesterday, we covered a claim from Gazzetta dello Sport, suggesting that United were ‘so fond’ of Kalidou Koulibaly, stating he’d be available in a cut-price deal.
Once more, they’re pushing United interest in Koulibaly pretty hard. Stating that the top defender has been ‘requested’ by United, as well as Manchester City.
In terms of the sums, it’s stated the player is available in a cut-price deal worth £52m (€60m), which is a considerable discount. Most likely due to the Coronavirus.

Again, it points to how badly some clubs are struggling due to the pandemic. Money is tight, sides like Napoli need to cash in on their top stars now in order to stay afloat. That’s sad, but true.
Koulibaly is a player who United have been linked with before. Pretty much every summer it seems. This time, though, Napoli have a reason to sell while United’s need for an elite-level defender is there for all to see.
Aged 29, we’re talking about someone who could come in and slot right into our side from day one. He feels like the perfect partner for Harry Maguire on paper, though they’ll be doubts about how long Koulibaly can play at the top level due to getting up there in age.
To us, this feels like a no-brainer. Koulibaly is immense. He could have a similar effect to what Virgil van Dijk achieved at Liverpool. Add him, a new right-winger and a high-level defensive-midfielder and we’re certainly in business ahead of the 2021/22 term.
