Man United retain a ‘strong interest’ in signing Jude Bellingham this summer.
There’s no doubt that Jude Bellingham is hot property. The Englishman, who Manchester United rolled out the red carpet for in 2020, opted to move to Borussia Dortmund instead.
At the time, United fans were disappointed, but we didn’t realise just how special Bellingham is.
Still a teenager, the midfielder is absolutely bossing it for Borussia Dortmund and England, often looking like the best player on the pitch – even when going up against top tier opposition like Manchester City.
Well, as you’d expect, it’s being reported that United retain a ‘strong interest’ in signing the talented 19-year-old this summer. That’s according to The Athletic (subscription required).
Without wanting to reveal too much of The Athletic’s information, United are in the queue along with a whole host of other top teams to sign Bellingham.
In our opinion, this transfer could well come to a head when next summer rolls around. There’s only so much development Bellingham can do at BVB, before he looks to further his career by moving elsewhere.
Naturally, you’d have to assume that the England sides will be favourites as this is the country of his birth.
However, if United want any chance at bringing in the teenager, they’d likely have to have Champions League football on the table. That’s by no means a guarantee at this point.
At the end of the day, whoever signs Bellingham are getting a generational talent. Whatever the cost, United should be moving mountains to get this transfer done. Though gone are the days where Old Trafford is the premiere destination for players on the move, so it’ll be intriguing to see how this one plays out.
