Manchester United are rushing to complete a deal for 19-year-old full-back Diogo Dalot.
That’s according to ESPN, who says the Red Devils want to get the deal done before his £17.5m release clause in his current contract kicks in. That clause activates on June 1st (tomorrow). United are apparently willing to pay higher than the release clause in order to ward off other potential suitors.
Among the other clubs interested are European powerhouses Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona; two sides who could certainly turn Dalot’s head if the right offer came in.

The young man from Portugal can play as both right and left-back which certainly must be appealing to manager Jose Mourinho; particularly as both Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia aren’t getting any younger.
Dalot has made just eight first-team appearances for Porto – all of which came after an injury to Alex Telles. Perhaps his best performance took place in the Champions League against Liverpool; a fixture in which he completely shut-down Sadio Mane and earned his side a hard-fought 0-0 draw at Anfield.
ESPN also say that United are keen on signing Toby Alderweireld and Fred before the World Cup gets underway in two weeks.
