Man United scouting Oscar Zambrano, face competition for his signature

Man United have sent scouts to watch the mega-talented Oscar Zambrano in action.

Manchester United Football Club have always excelled when it comes to signing youth and developing their talent. It’s why I have often been left confused as some of the big-money moves the Red Devils have made over the last few years.

Erik ten Hag’s best chance at success is returning to the template that is already in place. Forget mega-money players. Go out there and scour the globe for the cheaper options who can be moulded into your system. Look at the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Facundo Pellistri and Willy Kambwala. The latter pair may be on the fringes of the first-team, though they’ve done more positive things than many senior players despite a drastic gap in between the amount of minutes they’ve received.

It’s why the latest from the Daily Mail has me intrigued. They believe United are keen on the young Ecuadorian, Oscar Zambrano.

According to their report, the Reds have already sent scouts to watch the highly-rated 19-year-old midfielder, though they’ll face Premier League competition from both Luton Town and Brighton.

The Hatters have apparently already sent a £4m offer for Zambrano – an offer that Bournemouth are expected to trump. United, surely, should have no problem in beating both sides out – in terms of overall club stature and what sort of financial package they can put together.

Zambrano is already being compared with Moises Caicedo, which feels like an obvious link to make. However, United did pass up on Caicedo a few years ago when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge. No doubt the Old Trafford club are hoping to avoid that mistake from happening again.

This is the sort of risk-free signing that United could make, while offering plenty of upside. Zambrano has the talent and potential to become your starting defensive-midfielder for the next decade-plus. To me, it feels like a no-brainer when you look at the sort of figures being mentioned.
