Manchester United’s Paul Pogba problem isn’t going anywhere, that much is obvious.
With just over two years left on the Frenchman’s deal, (presuming United activate the one-year option in his contract) the Reds are reaching that point where a decision has to be made.
After Pogba has barely played this term, I can only see this one ending in separation. Right now, it feels like the only logical option – perhaps even more so when you see that United are consistently being linked with midfielders.
Today, a familiar name has been thrown back into the ring; Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The story comes from French media outlet Foot Mercato, translated by Sport Witness.
Their report is claiming that United have identified the 25-year-old as the ‘perfect prototype’ to replace Paul Pogba, with the Old Trafford club already ‘going up a gear’ in their pursuit.
Foot Mercato add that the ‘first’ discussions have already taken place with the players entourage, with Milinkovic-Savic’s agent ‘working on’ getting the player to Manchester.
As you’d expect, Lazio aren’t going to let the Serbian leave cheaply, particularly as they’re a side on the up right now.
I like Milinkovic-Savic, though I wouldn’t really describe him as a game-changing signing. That’s not always a necessity, though when you’re coming in with a monumental transfer fee, it’s pretty important. For right now, it’s probably best if United look elsewhere.
