We’re now rapidly approaching the midway point of the January transfer window, with Machester United still in exactly the same position they were in when the month started.
Sure, I get it, it’s notoriously difficult to sign players in the mid-season transfer period, though the Red Devils’ needs are so great that investing almost becomes a necessity for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Ample names have been linked, though nothing has really come to fruition. Today, the Sunday Express offered us another story on Lille midfielder, Boubakary Soumare.
They’re stating that United are to make one final scouting check on the 20-year-old today – ahead of a possible transfer bid.
Furthermore, Express Sport states that Solskjaer wants to strengthen his midfield this month, while Lille are open to selling Soumare.
United wouldn’t have it all their own way, though, with interest in Soumare thought to be high. Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and AC Milan have all looked at the Frenchman over the last two weeks.
Soumare is young so he’d definitely need time to adapt, adjust and get used to playing in the Premier League. Sure, he fits the profile of players that Solskjaer has often targeted, but at this stage, can United afford to take that gamble?
I feel like the Reds need a ready-made player. A James Maddison or Jack Grealish. If you’re after someone deeper, what’s wrong with looking at Declan Rice? Sure, they’ll cost more but you know exactly what you’re going to get…
