Man United had eyes on Arnaut Danjuma, during Villareal’s shock Champions League victory over Bayern Munich.
The Erik ten Hag announcement feels imminent. Manchester United Football Club have pretty much guaranteed their new manager.
With the arrival of the Dutchman this summer, new players will be required in order to fit his style of play. To balance the books other players will leave. Simply put, this squad needs a major overhaul and it’s going to require some patience.
Well, Ten Hag and United have to start somewhere, right? Today, a new name has been thrown into the huge pool of players that the Red Devils are linked with; Arnaut Danjuma.
The wide player currently pies his trade for Villareal in La Liga. He’s also been capped a few times for the Netherlands.
Anyway, according to the Daily Mail, United sent scouts to watch the 25-year-old winger this week. No doubt they were impressed with Danjuma, who scored the only goal of the game in a shock 1-0 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
The goal was Danjuma’s sixth in the Champions League this term – and fourteenth across all competitions in 2021/22.
United are one of a ‘number’ of clubs keeping an eye on Danjuma, who cost Villareal £21m from AFC Bournemouth last summer. There is a release clause in his contract, thought to be £64million.
Danjuma is an ever-improving player who has gotten better year on year. Cast your mind back to the Champions League group stage and he absolutely terrorised United – particularly during the game at Old Trafford.
With United set to lose Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Edinson Cavani and possibly both Anthony Martial and Cristiano Ronaldo, attacking reinforcements are needed. Danjuma would undoubtedly fit the bill.
