Man United send scouts to watch Bruno Fernandes as midfielder scores winner: report

Over the summer, signing a midfielder was amongst the top priorities for Manchester United.

Eventually, the Red Devils’ pursuit came up short with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring to go into the 2019/20 term with what he already had.

The name that everyone will remember from the summer is Bruno Fernandes. Seemingly, that rumour just will not go away…

According to A’Bola’s Tuesday print edition, translated via Sport Witness, United had scouts travelling to Portugal to watch the 25-year-old midfielder.

Furthermore, United were the only one English club there to ‘check’ the match on Monday night – a game in which Fernandes captained, and scored the winner for Sporting, in a 1-0 victory over Alaves.

Fernandes has now scored five in five, which is rather remarkable given it could have been oh so easy for the Portuguese to have his head turned due to rather heavy interest in him from some elite European sides.

Anyway, I guess that all the midfielder can do is carry on hitting the back of the net and playing well. Eventually, someone will make their move for his signature, as scoring goals at such a high rate from the middle of the park is a rare commodity.

Will United be the side who make their move? I guess we’ll have to wait and see…
