Man United apparently have eyes on Sassuolo midfielder, Davide Frattesi.
It goes without saying, Manchester United are among the biggest clubs on the planet. As a result, they have eyes in pretty much every corner of the globe looking for new signings.
Several names across a variety of positions were linked over the summer, though only six additions were made. No doubt when January rolls around and the subsequent summer, it’ll be a similar story.
Over the last few days, a new name has been thrown into the mix; Davide Frattesi.
This was a story we missed over the summer. It comes from Gazzetta dello Sport, with the translation coming via The Sun.
Apparently, United have sent scouts to watch the 23-year-old midfielder in action, though they’ll face competition to sign the player.
It’s written that other sides throughout Europe are interested in adding Frattesi to their squad, who has caught the eye with several impressive performances of late.
Tottenham, Brighton and West Ham United are all named as a potential suitors, along with the Old Trafford outfit. It goes without saying, if the Reds firm up their interest with an official bid, they’ve had a good chance at landing the Sassuolo man.
In terms of playing style, Frattesi is seen as a quick, physical footballer who enjoys winning back possession and does have that turn of pace. That seems like the ideal fit for what United need.
There’s no doubt that United’s midfield area could still do with further strengthening, even after the arrival of Casemiro. The likes of Fred and Scott McTominay continue to lack any sort of consistency, which makes it difficult to trust them on a regular basis.
Will this move happen? Who knows, but United seem to be pretty keen on Frattesi, so it’ll be intriguing to see how this story develops.
