Manchester United Football Club feel like a side who are just a few pieces away from competing for major honours again.
Credit where it’s due, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has ensured the feel-good factor has returned to Old Trafford. The Baby Faced Assassin has cleared some dead-wood, while replacing them with quality signings.
Going into a huge summer window, it isn’t surprising to see United linked with a new name almost daily. Today’s addition to the ever-growing list is Lech Poznan defender, Kamil Jóźwiak.
The story was relayed by the excellent Sport Witness on Monday, as they cite Poland journalist Marek Wawrzynowski, who took to Twitter to share his scoop a few days ago.
Apparently, United had scouts at Lech Poznan’s game with Legia Warsaw this Saturday, to watch the 22-year-old defender in action. No doubt the Red Devils rep(s) who were there would have been impressed, with the centre-half opening the scoring after 24 minutes. He also assisted Lech’s eventual winner just five minutes later.
United’s defensive situation is an odd one. Centre-half is an area of the field in which they’ve seriously struggled to keep players fit. You look at Phil Jones as the biggest failure, though this season, Axel Tuanzebe also seems to have caught the bug.
We’re not going to sit here and tell you Jóźwiak is the best thing since sliced-bread as we’ve never watched him play. However, we are yet to be given a single reason to doubt Solskjaer in the transfer market. I’m sure the Pole would be a more-than-capable addition to the squad if the deal were to happen.
Kamil Jóźwiak surely has to be better than Phil Jones, huh…?
