Man United send scouts to watch Sporting Lisbon’s Morten Hjulmand

Man United had scouts present, watching Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder, Morten Hjulmand.

Manchester United Football Club are already planning their summer transfer window, as the Red Devils look to bolster the playing squad in several areas of the pitch.

The Red Devils, currently managed by Erik ten Hag, will be hoping for positive things, with INEOS now in charge of footballing operations. Already, several names have been linked with a possible transfer to Old Trafford. I suspect those will continue right through to the summer.

Over the last 24 hours, a new name has been thrown into the mix; Morten Hjulmand.

It’s the usually reliable X account Scouts in Attendance with the claim. They detail what clubs had eyes on certain players.

Apparently, United were among a whole host of sides watching Sporting Lisbon vs Benfica on Thursday night, while United ‘have been watching’ the 24-year-old defensive midfielder Hjulmand.

The Reds had scouts keeping an eye on the player, though I would not be surprised if names like Antonio Silva and Joao Neves were also of interest.

Check out @Scoutsattending’s X post on the news here:

Hjulmand is a player whose stock is rising after some good performances. There can be no doubt that United need another defensive-minded midfield player. Casemiro remains the only player who can fulfil that role in the current squad, while the Brazilian is now getting up there in age.

United have always had success when buying from Portugal, namely Sporting in particular. The two clubs have a positive relationship so I would not be surprised if the Reds tried to use that to their advantage.

Hjulmand would add both quality and depth if a move is made, though I suspect United will not be the only team keen on bringing him in.

Do you think Morten Hjulmand would be a good signing for Man United? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
