Man United sent scouts to watch Benjamin Sesko in action this weekend

Man United were one of many sides watching Benjamin Sesko in action this weekend.

It’s no surprise to hear that Manchester United are consistently being linked with a move to sign a new striker. Brian Brobbey is a name that is now popping up with more frequency, as Erik ten Hag continues to look at his former employers for possible signings.

The feeling is that the United gaffer will opt for youth when signing a new number nine. Be it Brobbey or someone else. HITC believe another name could be on the agenda; Benjamin Sesko.

According to their latest information, United were among the sides who sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old striker in action this weekend, as RB Leipzig played Bayer Leverkusen during their 3-2 encounter.

Sesko started the game, alongside Jeremie Frimpong, who the Red Devils also have eyes on.

United were heavily linked with Sesko as he made the move to RB Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg back in the summer of 2023.

The striker has scored seven goals in 24 appearances in all competitions so far, while also continuing to impressive for his native Slovenia, bagging 10 times in 26 appearances.

There can be no doubt that Sesko is among the most talented young footballers in the world right now, though I do wonder what this move would mean for Rasmus Hojlund. Unless you’re playing a two striker formation, either Sesko or Hojlund will be sat on the bench every single game. That alone could be enough to ward off Sesko from making the move.

This strikes me as a deal with the summer in mind, rather than this current mid-season window. Even then, Sesko will have only been in Germany for one season. It’s highly unlikely that RB Leipzig would allow him to leave after just twelve months.
