Man United have eyes on West Ham midfielder, Edson Alvarez.

Manchester United have already lost one experienced player in the form of Raphael Varane this summer, while his fellow ex-Real Madrid and Reds teammate, Casemiro, could well follow suit.

The midfielder was weirdly axed from the FA Cup final match day squad at the last minute, sparking rumours of a fall out between the player and Erik ten Hag.

It goes without saying, if the Brazilian leaves, his minutes will need to be replaced with genuine quality.

According to Fabrizio Romano, United are now ‘seriously considering’ a move to sign a midfielder this summer.

Apparently, West Ham’s 26-year-old midfielder, Edson Alvarez, is an ‘option’ that the Old Trafford club have discussed internally. His skillset is also appreciated by Ten Hag.

Unfortunately, a deal is thought to be ‘difficult’ as Alvarez emerged as a key player for The Hammers last season.

Check out Fabrizio Romano’s X post on the news here:

After arriving from Ajax, the Mexican looked superb for pretty much the whole season. Alvarez played 42 games in the 2023/24 season, becoming an instant hit for the West Ham fanbase.

Understandably, they’d like to keep ahold of one of their key men, though interest was always going to come his way.

Alvarez is an excellent defensive midfielder, but he can also slot in at centre-half, meaning there’s a real possibility he could fill two holes within this United dressing room.

It’d be an expensive signing due to the fact that West Ham are under no pressure at all to sell, but if Everton continue to play hardball over Jarrad Branthwaite, Alvarez could be a real option.
