Man United set aside #7 jersey and £100m for arrival of world-class attacker: report

Manchester United have set aside £100million and the famous #7 jersey for Antoine Griezmann, report the Star, as per ESPN FC. The article reckons that Jose Mourinho remains very much interested in landing the Atletico Madrid key man, despite the fact that he penned a new deal.

Griezmann was linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams quite early on in the window, and I personally feel it was a little too coincidental that he signed a new contract just a day or so after the La Liga side were hit with a transfer ban. I believe out of loyalty, Greizmann opted to stay with his team just to help them out.

However, that ban will be lifted in just a few months time when January rolls around, and I’d be very surprised if Atletico’s star man remains in Spain beyond next summer.

Players like him are a rare breed, and he would make any side in world football better. I’d love to see him don the red of Manchester United over the next few years, and no doubt, we’d reap the rewards of him being in our starting line-up.
