Man United want a £40m fee to sell winger Jadon Sancho in a permanent deal this summer.
Manchester United are yet to sort out their manager situation heading into the 2024/25 season. Erik ten Hag’s future is the first priority right now, though a decision is yet to be made. Until that happens, no transfer decisions can be made.
The Red Devils are in a situation where they have to sell before they can buy. Money is thought to be tight, though letting high-earners like Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane leave does help balance the books a little.
One man whose future the club simply have to sort out is Jadon Sancho. The Englishman has spent the second half of this season on loan at Borussia Dortmund after a fall out with the manager. Obviously, if the Dutchman stays, there’s no place in the squad for Sancho. It really is that simple.
Now, the BBC have revealed that United have set their price tag to sell the out-of-favour 24-year-old permanently this summer; a hefty £40m.
United still want to sell Sancho permanently, while Borussia Dortmund remain interested in bringing the Englishman back. However, they are looking for another loan deal.
It is understood there is interest from Europe in Sancho, with Juventus keen on bringing in the wide man this summer. Whether they’re willing to firm up that interest with an official bid remains to be seen.
United just need to close this chapter sooner rather than later. Even if it means taking a heavily reduced fee for Sancho, so be it. The Reds need to get him off the books for good as he’s on some rather large wages. The last thing the club need is to be subsidising his weekly wage while he’s playing his football somewhere else in the 2024/25 season.
