Man United ‘set to assess’ Amad future in January as player enters final year of contract

Man United will remain patient before making a final decision on the future of Amad.

Manchester United have always excelled when it comes to giving young players a chance at the highest level. Just ask Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho about that.

These pre-season tours are all about finding the next in line to make that leap. Toby Collyer looks like he has a great chance to enjoy success at the highest level. As does Amad.

To me, it always felt like Amad wasn’t going to make it at Old Trafford. However, my viewpoint has drastically changed over the last few months. The winger enjoyed a positive end to an injury-hit 2023/24 season. He’s following that up with a brilliant pre-season.

It feels like the right-wing position is his to lose. However, ESPN believe United are keeping their cards close to their chest in regard to Amad.

They state that United are ‘set to assess’ the future of the improving first-team forward in January, as Amad enters into the final year of his contract.

Simply put, no long-term decision has been made on the winger just yet. Fear not, the ball is still in the Reds’ court, as they hold the option to extend his deal until 2026.

Amad himself seems intent on staying at the Theatre of Dreams beyond this current deal, so now it’s purely down to the player to continue to impress. The gaffer has admitted he’s delighted with Amad’s performances during pre-season so far, so all the signs are encouraging.

Hopefully, Amad continues on with this stunning form, proving he can do it in the heat of battle in a hard-fought Premier League game.

Do you think Amad will push on and become a key player for Man United this season? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
