Manchester United Football Club are going to need a huge summer transfer window if they want to compete for major honours again – that much is obvious.
Amongst the problem positions is right-wing. United haven’t had a consistent output from that flank since the Cristiano Ronaldo days, and maybe the Old Trafford outfit are looking to solve that problem by making a move for Jadon Sancho.
The story comes in the form of an exclusive from The Sun, who state that United are set for a summer battle with Chelsea, in an effort to sign the superstar 19-year-old from Borussia Dortmund.
Sancho has been brilliant for both club and country since departing the Etihad, seeing his value skyrocket.
There’s no doubt that Sancho would be a brilliant signing if United could somehow pull this deal off, though that’s easier said than done.
Right now, Chelsea lead the chase for a top-four finish so you’d probably have to consider them favourites at this point. However, things could change, particularly after United have spent money to bring both Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo to Old Trafford.
I’d like to think that the pull of playing for the biggest club in the country could swing the pendulum in United’s favour, mind.
Whoever eventually wins his signature will have to part with a rather large sum of cash though, probably in excess of £100million…
