Man United are set to welcome back both Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial to the squad tonight.

Manchester United may have one foot in the Carabao Cup final at this point, with Erik ten Hag’s side 3-0 up from the first leg.

The game itself was far more uncomfortable than the final scoreline suggested, with Nottingham Forest playing some good stuff.

Well, the second leg takes place under the Old Trafford floodlights later today, with United looking to finish the job in front of their home fans.

Ahead of the game, there was some mixed injury news. Scott McTominay will still be absent, though United were given a double injury boost, with two first-teamers set to return to the squad tonight; Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho.

The boss confirmed the welcome injury news in his pre-match conference yesterday. I am super excited to see these guys back in action as both will be important during this busy period.

“We have some issues,” Ten Hag told ManUtd.com.

“I think tomorrow that Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho will return in the game squad, but Scott McTominay will still be absent.”

Sadly, inconsistency has plagued Martial all season long. The Frenchman has been dealing with small injuries since pre-season. That has meant he’s struggled to find any sort of form, despite looking like United’s best player during the friendlies back in July and August.

Hopefully, this is the end of his problems and Martial can now stay injury free for the rest of the campaign. That could allow him to display his brilliant best, though I am not holding my breath…

As for Sancho, we haven’t seen him since before the World Cup. Obviously, he’s had some stuff going on in his personal life which meant football had to take a backwards step.

At this point, he’s slowly being reintroduced back into the first-team fold. I’d like to think he’s now in a good place mentally, ready to help the team and prove to the world that he has the ability needed to succeed at the highest level. I genuinely feel like he could be a valuable asset for this Reds side from now until the end of the term.

Do you think Sancho and Martial still have a major part to play this season? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
