Man United set to demand £20m for Dean Henderson, want to spark auction: report

Manchester United fans were jubilant when David de Gea finally committed his long-term future to Old Trafford.

The superstar Spaniard is ours for the rest of his peak years – though that news was somewhat bittersweet.

What does that mean for Dean Henderson? Was one of the immediate afterthoughts. Well, apparently, The Sun know the outcome…

In an exclusive, the English media outlet claim that United want to spark an auction for the 22-year-old’s signature – and they will ‘demand’ £20million in order to part with the budding shot-stopper.

United cleverly persuaded Henderson to sign a new contract over the summer, but did so before De Gea committed his future. So now, the ball is in the club’s court. With the Englishman tied down for three years, the Reds have every chance at commanding a respectable fee for such a talented young man.

Sure, Henderson isn’t the flavour of the month right now as he did make a crucial error during Sheffield United’s 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Steel City yesterday, but he’ll bounce back from that. This loan move with The Blades could well be the making of the young man. Who knows, if De Gea continues to make mistakes then things could well change over the course of a long season…
