Man United are preparing to give an opportunity to two youngsters during pre-season.
Manchester United Football Club have never shied away from giving chances to the younger generation. It’s the foundation of which many-a-great United side have been built upon.
Erik ten Hag is looking to continue that trend. Look at Alejandro Garnacho and to a lesser extent, Kobbie Mainoo.
Last pre-season tour, Charlie Savage and Zidane Iqbal came to the fore. This time around, a different pair of young players are going to be given their chance.
It’s the Manchester Evening News with the claim. They state that a United United duo are ‘set’ to be given a pre-season tour opportunity this summer, before a final decision is made on their future.
Both Amad and Alvaro Fernandez are those who will be presented with this huge chance.
The young pair both impressed during Championship loan moves last season. Both are attracting interest aplenty from elsewhere, though United want to see what they have, before deciding where their short-term future lies.
The boss is ‘eager’ to cast an eye over Amad, before deciding if the Ivorian will be kept around in the first-team squad in 2023/24. Fernandez will also get an opportunity, though there’s an expectation he will still leave on loan next term.
The difference here is that Amad plays in a position where United have had inconsistencies this season. His pathway into the team is far clearer.
Fernandez, on the other hand, has both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia ahead of him in the pecking order. Even if the Spaniard stays at the club beyond the transfer window, you get the feeling that chances would be limited.
For what it’s worth, we think both players have huge futures at United. This upcoming season, Amad could well prove to be the breakout star.
