Manchester United are set to make a colossal £122million offer to sign Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale.
That’s according to Spanish media outlet AS, who also add that the Red Devils are preparing to offer the Welshman over £26million-a-year in wages – nearly tripling his current salary.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock over the last week, you’ll know that Bale stole the show during the Champions League final – breaking Liverpool fans’ hearts with a stunning overhead-kick, before sealing the deal with a long-range effort that Loris Karius brilliantly parried into his own net.
Despite those heroics, Bale hasn’t been a regular starter for Los Blancos this term – and he could well be persuaded to leave the Santiago Bernabeu. This offer that’s on the table from Manchester United certainly must be tempting for the Welsh Wizard.
I’d love to see Bale in Red Devils colours – mirroring a certain Ryan Giggs with the same heritage and similar playing style. Whatever the cost, this is a signing that would significantly improve United’s starting line-up.
The only concern is his injury history, but he now has the summer to rest up, recharge the batteries and prepare solely for the 2018/19 domestic campaign. Personally, I reckon it’d be worth the gamble.
