Man United are set to sit down with Kobbie Mainoo and offer the young midfielder new terms.
Manchester United Football Club have never shied away from giving youth a chance, with the Red Devils continuing to present opportunities to the new generation.
Kobbie Mainoo has been an outstanding player to watch ever since making his debut twelve months ago. He burst onto the scene and hasn’t looked back, going from strength to strength.
There has already been plenty of talk about his future at the club, with a new contract said to be in the offing for quite some time. Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on that front, stating United are now set to offer the first-team starlet new terms, in order to reflect his importance to the side.
Mainoo is now among the first names on the team sheet at Old Trafford, while he’s also looking impressive at international level, too. So much so that yesterday it was claimed that United could look to protect their prized asset by resting him over the coming weeks.
One thing is for certain. United have always paid players early rather than late. It’s a smart position to be in as the club looks to protect their asset instead of risking losing them for a minimal fee (or free) in future. I’m not suggesting for one second that Mainoo is thinking about leaving anytime soon, just to throw that out there.
Mainoo does have a few years left to run on his current terms, but that said, he’s more than worthy of a pay raise given his stature within the dressing room. He doesn’t strike me as a player who’ll allow the money to go to his head as he’s a very grounded individiual.
