Man United ‘set to sign’ Harry Amass this week

Man United are set to sign Harry Amass this week.

Manchester United have been pretty quiet in the transfer market so far, with Erik ten Hag no doubt growing in frustration at the lack of signings. However, there’s plenty of time left yet.

Well, it does seem as though the Red Devils are closing in on their first deal, albeit for a player who you’d not necessarily expect.

The young man in question is Harry Amass. The 16-year-old is a defender by trade. He’s set to sign for United this week, according to Fabrizio Romano.

We’ve also been given details on the length of the term. Amass will sign a four-year contract. No doubt the club will have the option for a further year, something which they’ve been implementing into player’s contracts for the last few years.

Obviously, this isn’t a player who’ll have an immediate impression on the United first-team, rather, the club have longevity in mind here. Amass is someone with massive potential, who, with a few years development, could become one of the best full-backs in the country.

As per usual, there’s always an element of risk in any transfers when signing younger players, as you just never know how they’re going to pan out in the long run. However, this will be a relatively cheap, somewhat risk-free move, with plenty of upside.

Moves like this is what United have always been about. They excel when doing these kind of transfers, more than they do when spending big on high-profile players. In the modern-day game, it’s all about finding the right balance between youth and experience.
