Man United ‘set to sign’ Marcel Sabitzer on loan

Man United are set to sign Marcel Sabitzer on loan, with the player excited for the move.

Things are moving quickly on transfer deadline day for Manchester United, in the wake of an injury suffered by Christian Eriksen.

The Old Trafford club are now looking light in midfield, though they’re looking to fix that problem today, albeit in the short-term.

Not too long ago, United and Chelsea were linked with a late move to sign Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich. The Austrian isn’t playing regularly for Bayern right now, hence a move making a lot of sense.

The latest information in the saga comes from Caught Offside. They state that United are ‘set to sign’ the midfielder on loan, with an option to buy.

Apparently, Roger Wittman, CEO of Rogon, flew into Manchester to finalise talks late last night. The player is ‘excited’ for his first-team role at United in the wake of the Eriksen injury.

Honestly, fair play to United if they pull this offer. Sabitzer is an excellent footballer. He displayed that year-in-year-out at RB Leipzig before moving to Bayern.

All he needs to get that confidence flowing again is regular minutes. United could absolutely offer him that, given how thin on the ground they are in midfield right now, coupled with the bucketload of games they have coming up.

This is a no-risk move with plenty of upside. If Sabitzer plays well, there’s every chance United could make this a permanent transfer when the summer rolls around.

Either way, I’m all for this happening. Sabitzer is a top professional who could come in and start from day one. Hopefully, the club act quickly and get it done.
