Man United look set to win the race to sign Harry Amass.
Manchester United have always excelled when it comes to signing young players and giving them an opportunity at the highest level. It has given the club infinitely more success than marquee signings.
I’ve always been a big believer in carrying on that mantra wherever possible, which is why I’m always pleasantly surprised when the club signs young players. The likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Alvaro Fernandez and Hannibal Mejbri fall into this category.
According to the Evening Standard, United are set to continue with this trend, by bringing in Watford youngster, Harry Amass.
Their report claims that United are ‘expected’ to beat Chelsea to the left-back signing, with the player in advanced talks with the Reds at this moment in time.
Amass, 15, believes that training at a ‘top academy’ will further his development, rather than remaining with a Championship side, that could fast-track him to minutes in that division.
The young man is just the latest in a long line of immense talents who are looking to further their career with a move to United. He’s a very gifted individual, who, with the right coaching and attitude, can go on to huge things within this sport.
It’s pleasing to hear that, despite their on-field struggles over the last few years, young players still want to make the move to Old Trafford.
Amass recognises that the youth setup here in Manchester is still amongst the best in the business, while Ten Hag has showed that he will play these emerging stars, regardless of their age.
Beating out Luke Shaw for the starting job may well be tough, mind.
