Man United should consider a move to sign Brentford striker, Ivan Toney, according to Tony Cascarino.
We know we’ve been constantly talking about it, but the need to sign a new striker this summer is huge. Manchester United absolutely have to bring in a forward who’ll guarantee goals this summer.
Harry Kane continues to be atop that wishlist, though United simply have no choice but to look elsewhere in the event that Spurs choose not to sell the Englishman to a direct rival.
Victor Osimhen, Goncalo Ramos and Benjamin Sesko are names linked. Over the last 24 hours, another name has been thrown into the mix by the media; Ivan Toney.
The Englishman is enjoying yet another impressive season at Burnley. It only feels like a matter of time before he gets that move to an elite club.
Now, United have been told they ‘should consider a move’ to sign the 27-year-old Premier League striker, by pundit Tony Cascarino.
This is what Tony Cascarino wrote in his column on Toney:
“I cannot believe Ivan Toney’s improvement technically over the past 18 months. He was one of the best players at Anfield. The Brentford striker has added all sorts of deft touches to his game, such as the clever pass that assisted Bryan Mbeumo’s disallowed goal.” Cascarino told The Times (per Stretty News)
“He has a finesse which, dare I say it, echoes that of Dennis Bergkamp. Toney’s subtlety complements his stature and finishing. Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United should consider a move.”
There can be absolutely no doubt that Toney has improved massively over the last year or so. He’s now amongst the best strikers in the Premier League, for a club that wasn’t in the top division a couple of seasons ago.
Toney, like Brentford as a whole, are growing on a game-by-game basis. He has taken to England’s top flight like a duck to water, proving he has all the tools to lead the line for any club in the world.
Finishing ability, penalties, strength, pace, power, aerial threat. Toney has it all and United could absolutely do far worse than signing the Brentford hit man.
However, the problem here is in regard to those betting charges that are looming overhead. It’s still expected that Toney will be hit with a sizable ban for his offences. That may well put United off from even enquiring about the availability of the forward. I guess it all depends on how long he’ll be suspended for…
