Manchester United are apparently interested in signing Sporting Lisbon right-back, Cristiano Piccini.
That’s according to Turkish-Football, per Team Talk, who adds that West Ham United are also eyeing a move for the 25-year-old Piccini, who’s believed to be considering his options this summer.
The 25-year-old is next in an extremely long line of Sporting players who want to leave the Portuguese club after a hooliganism that took place on their training ground.
Rated at £17.5million, for a club with United’s stature that would be a drop in the ocean. Piccini is a player that I know very little about, but what I do know, the Red Devils’ right-back options don’t really fill me with confidence.
Antonio Valencia is a great player, but he’s ageing. For whatever reason, Timothy Fosu-Mensah never really got an opportunity. Then there is the new-boy, Diogo Dalot. Who knows what to expect from him?
Jose Mourinho knows what he’s doing, the self-proclaimed Special One certainly understands the Portuguese league. Piccini would give us another option in a key area of the field. Going forward, that can only be a good thing.
