Man United are the latest club to show an interest in Brighton midfielder, Yves Bissouma.
As we approach the January transfer window, it’s inevitable that rumours will start to appear more frequently across gossip columns.
Sure, this Manchester United side certainly feels like one that’s massively improving. However, there’s still much work ahead for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his squad.
Who knows, a couple of tweaks in the mid-season window and United could be genuine title contenders this term, with a little bit of luck of course…
The latest name to be linked with a potential Old Trafford switch is a completely fresh one; Brighton midfielder, Yves Bissouma.
According to The Express on Sunday, per United source Jonathan Shrager, it’s being claimed that United are the latest club to show an interest in the ‘combative’ 24-year-old.
However, they’ll face stiff competition as United are named one of six interested parties, amongst both Liverpool and Arsenal.
Bissouma made the move from Lille to Brighton back in 2018 and he’s been in brilliant form, particularly recently.
So why the interest in another midfielder?
Despite recent performances, Paul Pogba’s future is far from secure. Eventually, the Frenchman will move on and Solskjaer has to have a plan in place.
Bissouma is someone who stands out in that Brighton side, while a move to a bigger club with better players will only help the man from Mali improve.
In our opinion, this doesn’t feel like a transfer that would happen in January. It’s more one you may see movement on next summer, though United won’t have it all their own way with several top sides keen on signing Bissouma.
With a contract until 2023, he also wouldn’t be cheap. This has the potential to be an astute signing, but only at the right price…
